We believe that great content is about more than great writing. We look for style, clarity and grammatical precision, underpinned by strategic marketing knowhow and an understanding of the latest trends.
Our content team works hand in hand with our account managers and designers to create interesting, high quality materials, often meeting with clients to find out what truly makes them tick. They don’t just take briefs; they make briefs their own – spotting stories and angles that bring a fresh edge to a project or campaign.
It’s a busy, buzzy environment with deadlines around every corner, and previous experience within a similar environment – whether that’s a creative agency or a fast paced newsroom – is highly desirable.
Our account managers combine charm, diplomacy and confidence with an unerring focus on the day-to-day details of campaign management. They’re equally comfortable pitching to a prospective client as sat behind a spreadsheet. This role requires a big personality without a big ego. Resilience, emotional intelligence, and the ability to read a room and adapt accordingly are essential qualities.
Words may be the domain of our content team, but our account managers are no stranger to English grammar, and they’re adept at proofing work and ensuring it’s spick and span before it heads off to the client.
Professional jugglers and those with previous agency experience very welcome here.
Our designers turn their hand to a wide range of formats, from printed brochures and posters to ebooks, infographics, videos and websites.
Full competency in WordPress, Adobe Photoshop, Illustrator and Indesign are a must, and knowledge of Premier and AfterEffects will definitely turn our heads.
Our content is the result of tight collaboration between our designers, copywriters and account managers, with all views taken into account and feedback welcomed and valued.
Disappearing into a creative bubble is fine and dandy, but we look for team players who’ll get stuck in and contribute to our warm, friendly atmosphere.

Creative agencies are built on fresh opinions and big ideas, and we love welcoming new people through the door, whether that’s for a few weeks or a few months.
If you’re a marketing whizz in the making, who’s bubbling with creative brilliance and pedantic about prose, then an internship in our content team could kick-start your career. Or maybe you’re born to oversee campaigns and be the eagle eye that keeps projects on track and on brief, in which case a stint in our account team could help your ambitions take flight. When you join Southerly as an intern or an apprentice you become part of the team. You’ll get the inside nod on life in a busy creative agency and the chance to turn your hand to a wide variety of tasks. And, no, we don’t expect you to make the tea…unless you really want to. Be prepared to get stuck in and we’ll invest in you as much as you invest in us.
